An Ode to Mothers in Business
Share
Running a business while raising humans isn’t a balancing act... it’s a daily negotiation between chaos and purpose.
Some days, I feel on top of the world and get to soak it all in. Other days, I’m writing emails one-handed while my babies climb up my legs vying for my attention. There’s a constant pull to grow my business and provide for my family, and an equally strong push to be a fun, present mum to my four-year-old daughter and one-year-old sons.
I see this dance every day - in my daily life, in our community, and in the women who I am inspired by.
There’s something about motherhood that lets you take on more than you ever thought possible. You think, “I can’t go on,” only to take a deep breath and carry on anyway.
Lately, I’ve been so inspired by the mums around me who are taking care of business, literally, while also carrying the weight of the unpaid workload. One of my friends just launched a business from the ground up while navigating first-time motherhood (and she’s absolutely killing it). One of my favourite brand founders is about to give birth and still showing up daily to prep her Black Friday content. Our social media guru who has young boys and shows up excited and creative everyday. Everywhere I look, I see the mahi and I know firsthand the effort, energy, and heart it takes.
Motherhood has shaped my business more than any marketing strategy or clinical expertise ever could. It’s taught me intuition, empathy, and a kind of strength I didn’t know I had. My mission to build excellent products now holds the weight of knowing my daughter will grow up in a world where these tools exist.
When I started Tap. Health, I wanted to make women’s lives easier — to recognise how much we hold, and how often we put our comfort aside to make sure the day runs smoothly. (Sometimes literally cramping inside while helping our kids regulate their emotions.)
Now, Tap. Health is growing beyond being here just for women... we’re expanding into a space that exists for everyone: women’s health, men’s health, people’s health. There are exciting things on the horizon, but before the next chapter begins, I want to pause and acknowledge the grounding force behind it all — the reason Tap. became what it is today.
To every mother building something; whether it’s a business, a family, or just the courage to get through the day - I see you.
We’re proof that softness and strength can coexist, and that the world is better because of it.

P.S. If you are not a mama, I see you - being a woman in this world means being all the things and if motherhood is not your path I know you still carry it all and do it damn well.
My personal (well business-personal) Instagram page @maxlovesmenstruation showcases women in business in all walks of life and I’d love to see you over there too.
