What is tap?

Tap. is a wearable TENS device reimagined for all bodies and real life

How does it work?

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) sends small electrical pulses through the skin to the underlying nerves. This can help reduce the intensity of pain signals being transmitted to your brain and ease your perception of the pain. Additionally, tap. can stimulate your body’s natural production of endorphins - your own pain-relieving chemicals.

When using Tap, people who menstruate may experience relief from period pain reducing the need for medication (Modes 1-4). Results are best when Tap. is applied to the area of pain when the pain starts or as directed by your health expert.

Tap. is also used widely as a treatment option for overactive bladder (Mode 5) and as a tool for back/body aches (Modes 1-4).

You can learn about what TENS actually feels like in this blog post.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation & TTNS

The latest research* has shown that TENS therapy can help reduce pain and inflammation by stimulating the nerves that send pain signals to the brain. Tap. provides targeted and customisable relief by utilising five different modes (high & low frequency) and a variety of sticky pad options for maximum effectiveness across different bodies and usage.

Both high-frequency and low-frequency TENS can be effective for combatting period pain, back aches and pelvic discomfort. You may prefer one over the other or find that a combination of both works best for you.

In addition, Tap 2.0 is equipped with an additional mode that is aligned with the evidence-based parameter for Transcutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (TTNS) which is a trusted method for combatting overactive bladder and painful bladder syndromes.

  • “TENS is a non-invasive, inexpensive, portable method with minimal risks and a few contraindications… it can be self-administered on a daily basis during everyday activities.”

    (Elboim-Gabyzon & Kalichman, 2020)

  • “Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) of the tibial nerve is a non-invasive, safe, low-cost, easy-to-apply method, with good adherence among patients, which helps to reduce symptoms of urgency, incontinence, daily urinary frequency, and nocturia.”

    (Pierre et al., 2021)

  • “The TENS device tested represents a well-tolerated, rapidly and lastingly effective non-pharmacological analgesic solution, capable of replacing or being combined with analgesics in the management of PD (Primary Dysmenorrhea).”

    (Guy et al., 2022)

  • Why our pre-set modes are evidence based... it matters!

"The primary outcome of interest was pain. All of the 4 investigations that analyzed the effects of TENS on pain reported significant effects related to this outcome compared to sham TENS. Two studies reported that sham TENS also had a beneficial effect but that TENS was more effective compared to sham TENS"
