Tap 2.0 Modes Explained
Our pre-set TENS parameters (Modes 1-5) have been carefully selected based on pelvic pain research & clinical use of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. The modes inside your device are the most important part about using TENS and understanding more about each one can help you decide which ones may be best for you. Using the right mode will mean you can get the best results.
There are specific ways to use each mode based on what you want to achieve by utilising Tap 2.0.

Mode 1 (green light) is a high frequency mode in a continuous waveform. This is a great all-rounder and usually the first or only mode many users need for pelvic pain, muscular tension/pain, and labour. If you have been using Tap. for more than a few hours, it's time to swap to Mode 2 so you can continue to receive the benefits of high frequency TENS without your nerve pathways getting to used to the sensation.
Mode 2 (blue light) is a high frequency mode but in a burst waveform. It is meant to accompany Mode 1 as a way to continue pain relief when you've been using Mode 1 for a few hours. You may like to switch between Mode 1 & Mode 2 every few hours to maximise pain relief.
Mode 3 (yellow light) is a low frequency mode in a continuous waveform. Low frequency TENS can be beneficial for pain relief but there is a caveat... if you are taking pain medications with opioids in them, this mode may not be as effective for you. Low frequency TENS works through the natural opioid receptors in the body which can be great for pain relief, but if you are also on synthetic opioid medications then Mode 1 & 2 will be better for you. If you are not on medications, Mode 3 & 4 are well worth trialling. Modes 3 & 4 can also be used for labour.
Mode 4 (pink light) is a low frequency but in burst waveform. It is meant to accompany Mode 3 as a way to continue pain relief when you've been using Mode 3 for a few hours. You may like to switch between Mode 3 & Mode 4 every few hours to maximise pain relief if you are not on medications.
Mode 5 (white light) is a special bladder calming mode. This setting is used in pelvic health settings alongside a treatment plan to reduce overactive bladder, bladder pain and bowel disorders. It is placed on the tibial nerve, or the sacral nerve typically for 20 minutes per day during treatment.
